“ ‘The Waning Sky’ by Carlos Ruiz Carmona, received the Honorable Mention from the Jury of the Selection Other Perspectives at the XXX edition of Caminhos do Cinema Português.

“For the proposal of reviving and questioning classic cinema, sometimes mimicking it and sometimes breaking away from it, through a rigorous direction, photography, and art, which reaches its peak in the performance of actress Carla Chambel, who leads us through all the great interpretations of women in cinema,” the jury members André Gil Mata, Luísa Neves Soares, and Valerie Braddell justified during the closing ceremony of the festival last Saturday.

    — Rui Tendinha, film critic for DN and host of Cinetendinha

” ‘The Waning Sky’ by Carlos Ruiz Carmona was the biggest surprise in the ‘Other Perspectives’ section of the XXX Festival dos Caminhos Cinema Português. Carla Chambel stars in a film about two lovers and the pain that love causes. A romantic journey made with little money but with a stylistic strength that draws us into a tale of desire, from which a notion is formed that the attraction of bodies can lead to tragedy. We also have a director with a good geometric taste in archetypes. Ruben Garcia and Carla Chambel work better than most cinephiles might imagine. Let’s hope a distributor dares to bet on this rare bird. Very rare.”
